Double Creek Pottery

Double Creek Pottery was started in 1967 by Joanne, Jack, and Betty Barwick. The company began as a school in New Jersey devoted to teaching ceramics. They marketed some of their original designs and in 1975 decided to close the school and concentrate their energies on their own art.

They started with dinnerware and serving pieces. They then went on to create airbrushed decorative pieces and large floor vases with hand built flowers. The look and feel of their work has changed over the years yet theyve always strived to stay one step ahead of other clay artists in design and technique.

All of Double Creeks pieces are hand crafted using presses, slab rollers, and slip casting. The designs are kept as simple as possible to accentuate the vibrancy of the color and the unusual matte finish that they are known for. Double Creek uses a black satin glaze inside of their vessels which gives them a beautiful sense of contrast.

Double Creek Pottery is now located in central Florida where three of the family members live and work.

Andrew Barwick, the youngest of three sons, rejoined the family business in 2006. He is now in charge of development and design of the pieces produced in wood.
