Handcrafted in Pennsylvania
Jeff Davis has been making objects, furniture, and designing for 20 years. He earned his BFA in theatrical set design from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. Once upon a time, Jeff worked as an art director, designer, and studio assistant for numerous theaters production design firms in New York. Jeff has also collaborated with several artists to make sculpture and installations both in New York and abroad.
Jeff graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002 with a Masters degree in Industrial Design. It was at RISD where Vinylux began, as part of a graduate thesis project. Encouraged to pursue an exploration of designing with re-purposed materials, he began an experiment with reshaping old records. A few hundred misshapen bowls captured the attention of his professors; by graduation time, several products were market ready and Vinylux was born. Almost immediately, Vinylux received an award from the International Design Resource Awards, an organization dedicated to discovering and recognizing excellence in sustainable and environmentally conscious design. Several Vinylux items have been included in museum exhibitions as well as featured in Green Design, a book focused on the future of eco-centered product design, and 1000 Ideas for Creative ReUse.
When not playing with records, Jeff is with his wife Maggie, son Tyler, and daughter Una& or brewing beer, playing music with friends or out on a bike ride.View All Items By Vinylux Custom Design Center
